| Amoxicillin is a penicillin-like antibiotic used to treat certain infections caused by bacteria, such as pneumonia; bronchitis; venereal disease (VD); and ear, lung, nose, urinary tract, and skin infections. | Amoxicillin comes as a capsule, chewable tablet, liquid, and pediatric drop to take by mouth. Amoxicillin usually taken every 8 hours (three times a day). Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take Amoxicillin exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of Amoxicillin or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.

| Amoxicillin side effects that you should report to your prescriber or health care professional as soon as possible:; difficulty breathing, wheezing; dark yellow or brown urine; dizziness; fever or chills, sore throat; increased thirst; pain or difficulty passing urine; pain on swallowing; redness, blistering, peeling or loosening of the skin, including inside the mouth; seizures (convulsions); skin rash, itching; stomach pain or cramps; swollen joints; severe or watery diarrhea; unusual bleeding or bruising; unusual weakness or tiredness; vomiting; yellowing of the eyes or skin
Amoxicillin side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your prescriber or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):; diarrhea; headache; loss of appetite; nausea; stomach gas or heartburn.

| In case of Amoxicillin overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.

| If you are diabetic and taking large doses of Amoxicillin, you may get a false-positive result for sugar in your urine with certain brands of urine tests. Check with your prescriber or health care professional before you change your diet or the dose of your diabetic medicine.

| Store Amoxicillin at room temperature between 15-30 degrees C (59-86 degrees F). Keep container tightly closed. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.
